Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many people into the National Football League
That result could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an advantage over their eight and two competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a major confrontation in week 11, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? That's the question for the Bills to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were outperformed from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an surprising outcome - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the team's opening first down in the third period and first points in the final quarter - admittedly Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the league's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and just over half their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area meaning a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into seven points just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defensive side and Josh Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the calm, disciplined, balanced Buffalo team we've seen this year
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the top of the AFC East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're one of three eight and two squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the best?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, Denver and Indianapolis really for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their total twenty-four wins achieved against teams with a positive record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Broncos
The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven straight victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was significant
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he definitely earns point for bravery after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his team to victory
The defensive unit is solid and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth runner to exceed 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
Although you can argue who 'the best' is statistically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the top record thanks to their remaining opponents - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, although a huge one against Buffalo
Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There's a considerable distance to go but the door is available for a surprise number one position in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are NFC West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored 40 burgers to go to 7-2 before next week's Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in LA
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Both could easily be without a loss as well - especially the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning field goal with the final play deflected and run back by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they are genuinely two of the best sides in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a record season after his incredible display in Berlin - rushing for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and contributing another 42 {receiving yards
