Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
