Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
