Recent Details Surface Regarding the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the shocking demises of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
The Alarm
According to a report quoting a family associate, a practitioner arriving for an session initially became concerned after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained and denied bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source also disputed several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Furthermore disputed circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
