Almost 55,000 families have so far been impacted by the storms, with their belongings and shelters destroyed.

Intense precipitation over the past week have worsened the extremely difficult living conditions of the vast number of displaced civilians in the region, according to aid organizations.

"Horrendous" Weather Brings Serious Threats

A spokesman detailed the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"The recent weather was exceptionally terrible for the residents. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gales were so forceful," noted the official.

There is grave anxiety that young ones living in temporary structures in wet attire will contract hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Fatalities and Significant Loss

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures due to the storms.

Further statements put a greater fatality count. Spokespeople stated that several structures had collapsed completely and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 official refuges submerged.
  • Numerous individuals required to find new shelter.

Aid Operations Deemed Not Enough

Agencies have stepped up shipments of shelter, warm covers and garments after the halt in hostilities started, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid entering.

"We are working relentlessly to deliver that aid and to hand it out, but the scale of the needs is so vast that we still have thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship every night," stated one representative.

Future Concerns and Agreement Plans

The second phase of the agreement encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of military forces, and other provisions.

Aid groups have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing relief to address pressing and future needs."

The hostilities was initiated by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a high number of casualties in the area, based on medical figures.
